Airwear is 43% lighter and 10 times more impact-resistant than standard plastic. This makes Airwear the lightest material used for eyeglass lenses and provides wearers with the ultimate level of comfort.

With its level of impact resistance, Airwear is designed to withstand the impact from forces that can shatter plastic or glass lenses. This allows wearers to enjoy maximum protection without sacrificing looks or vision. And, because of today’s active lifestyles, Airwear provides superior optical quality for all types of patients who want to live life to the fullest.
Airwear—The Thinner Lens
With its 1.59 index, Airwear is 20% to 25% thinner than CR39. A selection of flatter front curves makes it less bulky in any frame and when coated with Crizal® Alizé™, Airwear is extremely transparent.

Airwear—The Safest Lens
Airwear lenses are virtually unbreakable. When submitted to the multiple dropball test, Airwear shows an impact resistance 10 times superior to that of 1.50 standard plastic. The features of Airwear are also compatible with your “Duty to Warn.” Airwear lenses comply with the most stringent European and American safety tests—including Safety Standard ANSI Z87-1.

Varilux, Crizal Alize and Transitions
Airwear lenses combine all the benefits required by today’s consumers. Not only are they lightweight, durable, impact-resistant and comfortable, but also highly scratch resistant and they provide 100% UVA and UVB protection. Airwear is available in a wide variety of designs including single-vision and Essilor premium progressive lenses—satisfying the visual needs of all ages. (Link to availability chart) Airwear is available in every design of the world’s leading progressive lens, Varilux. Varilux lens technology continues to advance the standards of vision and vision care. Airwear is also compatible with Crizal and Crizal Alizé. Crizal anti-reflective technology makes lenses virtually disappear. Airwear is available in polarized lenses or in Transitions lens technology, which allows lenses to stay indoors, but darken in the presence of UV light. The tint level of Transitions lenses adjusts quickly as light conditions change to provide convenient protection from glare and 100% blockage of harmful UV rays. Virtually as clear as regular clear lenses indoors, and as dark as most sunglasses outside in bright light, Transitions lenses provide maximum comfort and protection for your eyes.
