What material are Airwear lenses
made from?
Airwear lenses are made from a proprietary polycarbonate resin—the same material that gives compact discs their clearer sound. Polycarbonate is widely used in everyday products including computers, car headlights, helmets, etc. But Airwear utilizes the latest R&D improvements resulting in a purer material resin for the optical industry. The result—a superior lens material that provides the optimum in optical performance.
Who is Airwear for?
Airwear is the lens of choice for all prescriptions. Adults and children will both enjoy the advantages Airwear can provide – the lightness, strength, durability provided for their active lifestyles. Anyone who desires comfort, protection, and performance will appreciate Airwear lenses and will experience the utmost in satisfaction by making them their first choice in personal eyewear.
Why is Airwear superior to other
lens materials?
Along with the benefits of lightness, thinness, durability and UV protection, Airwear provides superior optics. When these elements of comfort and safety are combined with superior lens designs, you have a combination of attributes that’s unmatched in any lens. No other lens material has this level of performance.
How can Airwear be the lightest material?
When comparing the weight by volume (or specific gravity) of Airwear lenses to other materials, Airwear lenses are lighter. The specific gravity of a material is defined as the weight in grams of a cubic centimeter of a given material. Airwear has a specific gravity of 1.20 compared with standard plastic lenses’ specific gravity of 1.32.
What lens designs are available in Airwear?
Airwear lenses are available in all designs: Single Vision and Progressive lenses. In fact, you can get every design of the world’s leading progressive lens, Varilux, in Airwear. Varilux lens technology continues to advance the standards of vision and vision care.
Can I get anti-reflective treatment on Airwear?
Yes. An anti-reflective treatment will favorably enhance performance by reducing the glare on the lenses. When you get Crizal Alizé anti-reflective coating on your Airwear lenses, you will be able to see better and look better. Crizal anti-reflective technology makes lenses virtually disappear
What is “Duty to Warn”?
This provision makes the Vision Care Professional responsible for informing patients that one lens material exceeds all others in impact resistance. The features of Airwear are compatible with the “Duty to Warn” issue. The material used to manufacture Airwear lenses complies with the most stringent European and American safety tests—including Safety Standard ANSI Z87-1.
